Alicia Keys To Perform At NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show, Ellie Goulding Joins Weekend Festivities

Alicia Keys

This may be Beyonce‘s month, but Alicia Keys is making a strong argument that it’s her time, too. Just a week after having performed at the Grammys with Maroon 5, and a few weeks after her Super Bowl National Anthem, Keys will perform at halftime of the NBA All-Star Game in Houston, TX on February 17. The star-studded gameday lineup also includes John Legend singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and Ne-Yo singing during player introductions.

If the Super Bowl Halftime show is the biggest ten minutes celebrating sport’s marriage with pop, then NBA All-Star Weekend is the biggest three days celebrating that partnership. The game is the culmination of a weekend of events, which this year will include performances by Ellie Goulding, Phillip Phillips, and Fall Out Boy‘s first live television performance in three years.

Stargate Explain The Creation Of Rihanna’s “Diamonds”

Stargate, the gentlemen behind Rihanna‘s biggest hits - try “Don’t Stop the Music,” and most recently, “Diamonds” - did a little interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where they discussed what it’s like to work with, y’know, everyone who matters in the music industry, and specifically Rihanna, the #UNAPOLOGETIC Bajan banger to rule them all. Predictably, there’s a story behind that hypnotic Sia-penned megahit - but it wasn’t conceived as a radio smash.

As Stargate producer Tor Erik Hermansen explains: “When we wrote "Diamonds" with Benny Blanco…we collaborated with him for a couple of weeks trying to come up with material for Rihanna. And we were basically trying to come up with big records, and making big up-tempo pop records and then after a couple weeks of that, we just decided, ‘Today we're not trying to make a big hit record. Today we are going to make something that we love and that's a little bit darker, a little bit slower, and a little bit more emotional, and that's when we made the track for “Diamonds.”‘

But the radio-courting wasn’t central to the composition of that song: “A few days later Sia came in and wrote the lyrics,” Hermansen explained. “When we made that song we basically made it for ourselves. We didn't try to make a hit. The song goes out, and it becomes huge, and that becomes rewarding in a sense that when we feel something, the public feels it as well, and it's nice to be reminded of that.”

The process sounds pretty #UNAPOLOGETIC to us.

all time favorite rosa clara collection

Selections from super gorgeous Rosa Clara 2010 collection. “The collection is inspired by two trends: One, simple lines with close-fiting gowns. And the other, spectacular volume.”

To start, a stunning floral embroidered tulle A-line dress, called Roger. The flower motif on a translucent layer adds a touch of magic to this feminine gown. Très jolie!

A beautifully-constructed strapless mermaid wedding dress in silk taffeta, Rialto. Love the fact that the pleating goes from vertical at the chest area to horizontal at the torso and back to vertical as it fans out dramatically at the bottom.

Very pretty silk organza gown with sweetheart neckline, Rodeo, that hugs and drapes neatly around the bodice and then bursts into layers of soft flowery ruffles.

Close-up of the above gown on the right shows nice contrast of sleek lines vs wild ruffles. Check out the very beautiful structure of the tea length brocade dress, Ronna, on the left. Looks like an origami! Nice use of pleats and darts as a design detail.

Another structured gown, this one called Ros. I’m in love with the gorgeous bow and simple, clean lines of this dress which has an adorable silhouette of a tulip bud . Oh! And pockets! How cute are wedding gowns with pockets?

Here’s silk tulle and silk organza dress called River,  that celebrates pleats and do so in a very refined and elegant manner. Yes, more pleats please!

The Spanish bridal couturier also houses wedding gowns designs by fashion designers such as Jesus Del Pozo, Christian Lacroix and Karl Lagerfeld.
