Jewelry Spotting at the 2014 DVF Awards

Several powerful and stylish women attended the 2014 DVF Awards on Friday (April 4) held at the United Nations Headquarter in New York. Diane von Furstenberg was joined by other fabulous women like Alicia Keys and SJP to celebrate and honor female empowerment.

Aside from the chic ensembles, there were also loads of gorgeous and on-trend jewelry pieces that we spotted. So, we headed to one of our favorite shopping sites Shopbop, to find the best alternatives to these A-list jewelry pieces.

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys, who was honored with the Inspiration Award that night, opted for a simple but classic pair of diamond stud earrings. We just love this choice because regardless of the season and even the outfit, they will always be a timeless piece that gives effortless sophistication.

Wendi Murdoch

Businesswoman Wendi Deng Murdoch sported gorgeous three-tiered link diamond earrings. The sparkly jewelry was loaded with diamonds and obviously looks pretty expensive. We found a great alternative that has a similar look, minus the diamonds.

Sarah Jessica Parker

To match her glittering gold frock, SJP wore an equally sparkly tennis bracelet with huge diamond stones. She also added a couple of rings to amp up the look even more.

Diane von Furstenberg

Our favorite jewelry piece of the night was worn by none other than Diane von Furstenberg herself. She wore festive-looking statement earrings that had a large teardrop blue stone that was surrounded with smaller accent stones of different colors.

The 32-year-old superstar channeled the iconic Marilyn Monroe in a familiar blonde wig. In the issue, the singer opened up about her new self-titled album and sexual liberation of women.

To accessorize her sexy look, Beyonce wore layers of beyond gorgeous pearl necklaces that further amped up the sizzling factor of the cover. These well-styled jewelry pieces also added a touch of sophistication to Bey's Marilyn Monroe impression.

Beachy day

Toby and I are playing hooky for the rest of the week and heading to Fire Island with these guys. We're excited to nap on the beach and maybe grill some burgers. I have more posts coming up, if you're in a blog reading mood. :) xoxo P.S. Have you ever been to Fire Island?

Thursday giveaway!

Today's giveaway is from Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the luxury and boutique hotel specialists. They're offering one lucky reader (and a friend) a trip to Napa Valley. You'd fly to San Francisco, stay for three nights (!) at the Carneros Inn, go wine-tasting and tour vineyards, and get a delicious cheese basket and other gourmet goodies. How amazing (and romantic) would that be?! Also, the hotel has an infinity pool, hot tubs and outdoors showers. :)

For a chance to win, enter the giveway on Mr. and Mrs. Smith's website, anytime until Friday, September 9th. Go here to enter. Good luck! xoxo

On relationships

My sweets, I LOVE doing Motherhood Mondays and talking openly about all things parenthood. Thank you so much for the fascinating discussions and eye-opening comments.

So, I had an idea! I'd like to start a new series: Relationship Thursdays. (Is there a catchier name?:) I keep thinking of relationship-y things that I'd love to discuss, but so far, there hasn't really been a place on the blog for that. So, now, we can talk in honest and fun ways about everything from first dates and break-ups to weddings and spouses, as well as other relationships, like those with friends, parents and siblings.

What do you think? I'm excited. Let me know if you have anything in particular that you'd want to talk about! xoxoxo

Star projector

Picture this: Your crush invites you over for dinner, and, when you arrive, you're greeted with a glass of wine, Sigur Ros on the iPod, and this star projector. How amazing would that be?

I'd love it for quiet married nights at home, too. Would be a fun way to eat burritos and watch Curb your Enthusiasm, haha.

What English sounds like to foreigners

Have you ever wondered what English sounds like? This short film, Skwerl, shows you exactly that. Take a look!

How clever is this? Sicily looks like it's getting kicked behind the sofa.
