Meet the Top 10 Skirt Bloggers of November 2014

Can you believe it's already December? It wasn't long when we've featured our favorite skirt outfits for October and now, we're already bidding goodbye to November through another round-up of our favorite outfits.

This month might have breezed through but it's definitely not lacking in outfits that will make you stop and take a second glance. Here are the bloggers who made it to this list:

1. Liat from Canada

Liat

Liat2

Liat superbly incorporated her midi leather skirt by partnering it with a sweater and an overcoat. Just slip on a pair of thermal tights when the days are cold and this outfit can already be your go-to one.

2. Monica from Georgia

Monica

We're happy to see the mermaid skirt making a comeback after its brief stint earlier this year. Monica styled it to perfection - with a striped sweater over a button down shirt, a pair of pumps and a chain-strapped bag.

3. Cassandra from Singapore

Cassandra

Cassandra channeled her inner Parisian-chic in this fiery red pencil skirt that she wore with a cute fox-printed sweater. We don't know which one we covet more - her skirt or her sweater?

4. Daniela from Florida

Daniela

This is how you wear florals in autumn and winter! We love the floral print of Daniela's skirt. Wearing it with a black sweater and platform peep-toe pumps also amped up the classy meter.

5. Helena from Spain

Helena

Helena2

We've always though black pleated skirts are classy and versatile and we're once again proven right. We love how Helena styled it with a red striped sweater for that holiday feel and how she kept her accessories polished and chic.

6. Angela from California

Angela

Angela2

We are more than a wee bit smitten with Angela's Altuzarra skirt. It's a great staple for those women who need more versatility in their wardrobe as this piece can easily go beyond your 9-5 schedule!

7. Cassandra from New York

Cassandra3

This is how you do shades of grey right! We can't get over how cute that flared skirt is and how Cassandra took the pretty level up a notch by wearing a plaid muffler over her outfit.

8. Anna from Russia

Anna

Is there really something bad that can be said about a swan-printed skirt? No? We thought so too. Anna looked adorable in this covetable skirt!

9. Alba from Spain

Alba

If you have a skirt with this structure, you pretty much can stand there and look fabulous all the time. But Alba made her skirt stand out even more by wearing it with a fuzzy sweater, a pair of ankle boots and a shoulder bag.

10. May from Congo

May

It's definitely the time to saturate your closet with anything plaid. Take a cue from May who wore it with a green coat and a sweater. We will wear this outfit any day!

If these amazing outfits are anything to go by, December is bound to become one stylish month. Stay tuned for our last list for 2014!

The Easiest Way of Wearing a Printed Skirt According to Reese Witherspoon is…

...partnering the skirt with a basic white shirt. Okay, she didn't exactly say the words but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's one of her infallible fashion tricks. Just Google Reese Witherspoon and her skirts and you'll find quite a number of photos of her in this go-to ensemble.

Her latest look involves yet again another plain white button down shirt. But this time, the actress takes it up a notch with a colorful geometric-printed skirt.

The print on the 38-year-old's skirt reminded us of carnivals and swirly lollipops, for some reason. It must be the red, pastel blue and white theme or the striped red print. Reese looked ready to take on the world in this faultless ensemble. She meant business in her crisp white top but the skirt took care of the fun in the outfit.

The overall effect is classy, thanks to the addition of the simple red sandals, chunky accessories, the white Hermes Birkin bag and the big pair of sunglasses.

The Legally Blonde actress isn't the only one who relies on the versatility of the white shirt and printed skirt combo. We swear by it too! So here are some outfits we put together inspired by this look:

Put Your Protective Glasses on – Rita Ora Shines in the Daylight in Her DKNY Metallic Pencil Skirt

Rita Ora is one of those people who easily stand out in a crowd. It's not just because she is an easily recognizable figure, being the pop star that she is, but also because she makes no effort to tame down her style.

She has no qualms wearing attention-grabbing pieces like a metallic skirt in broad daylight.

Rita Ora

We have to give this girl credit for always sticking to her aesthetic and letting her personality shine through her outfits.

Rita's pencil skirt offers just the right amount of edgy and classy. She wore it with a mint green cropped top that totally balanced out the length of the skirt to create a flattering silhouette. Never really thought mint green would go so well with silver but there you go.

For more color, she even threw on a cobalt blue cap. She then proceeds to capping off the look with metallic pumps and sunglasses.

Rita’s skirt is from DKNY but we can’t find it anywhere. On the other hand, we can always look for substitutes, right? Here are alternative options:

1. Milly Mirrored Python Pencil Skirt, $297.00

2. Club Monaco Bianca Skirt, $198.00

3. Leith Foiled Pencil Skirt, $46.00

4. Utzon Ela Skirt, $963.23

These are similar to Rita's DKNY piece so you can style these up the same way she did!

Five Cutout Skirt Looks That Won’t Upset Your Mom

The saying “the shorter, the better” is no longer accurate for women who try to look more feminine by wearing skirts. In fact, nowadays, a woman need not chop off a good few inches from the bottom of her skirt in order to recreate a look that would express their femininity better – all that is needed is a substantial amount of cutting and a brilliant strategical placing of that cut.

When it comes to cutout tops, pretty much everywhere that one can poke a hole in has already been poked. Designers eventually asked, “Why stop there?” For designers, deciding on where to put a graceful cut on a skirt without revealing too much skin and compromising functionality proved to be a bit challenging, but not all of them are backing off. Hence, the birth of cutout skirts.

We rounded up five of our favorite blogger looks for these ironic rule-breaking but structured babies.

Maria of Stylissim

Mara of Stylissim

Having a skirt that looks like a giant chomped down its front has never looked this chic. Choose a graceful round cut that’s not too wide and show off a comfortable amount of extra leg. For the illusion of longer legs, go for a high-waisted pencil skirt. If you’re not confident about the length of your torso, lower waistlines should do the trick. For a laid-back but still ladylike look, pair the skirt with a slouchy graphic sweater and pumps.

Isabella of Views of Now

This look shows that it’s all about location, location, location (that and the gorgeous angular cut that is aptly proportional to the height of the skirt). The cutout need not be huge as long as it complements the entire piece – in this case, the roughness of the skirt material is complemented by the triangle cut and the illusion of a wrap skirt. It pays to be a smart dresser, too, since choosing an open back top complements the angular cutout of the skirt. The look is finished off with black heeled booties.

Get her look:

Witchery Stylenanda Burberry

Witchery Quilted Wrap Mini Skirt, AUD $129.95 / Stylenanda Low Back Tee with Snap Button Closure, $35.01 / Burberry Prorsum Woodley Studded Leather and Calf Hair Wedge Ankle Boots, $1,153.03

Kookie of Death by Platforms

Kookie of Death by Platforms

Sometimes, it’s not about the size or location of the cutout, but rather the gracefulness of the cut. The hemline of the skirt in this look ever so slightly curves upward, but this shy skirt curve brought an abundance of freshness to the fashion table. For a sophisticated but fun look, pair the skirt with a floral or guipure buttondown shirt and sandals with a fun geometric print.

Get her look:

Browns Nasty Gal Atalanta Weller

Nasty Gal Peeking Daisy Skirt, $48.00 / Piece D’Anarchive Tailored Guipure Lace Shirt, 530 (before: 1,330.00) / Atalanta Weller Block Heel Sandal, $459.08

Nadya of Glitter Dessert

Nadya of Glitter Dessert

Not ready to put away your maxis yet? A compromise is in order. This skirt is reminiscent of the trending (and, let’s face it, slightly overused) high-low skirts, but with a fresh structural take to it. This cut is perfect for those who are not quite ready to go all the way short or, for some weird reason, love how the front of their legs look but equally despise the way the back looks. Style it up with a flowy or draped top, chunky neck pieces and some fancy footwear.

Get her look:

New Look Mugler Alaia

New Look Coral Jersey Dip Hem Skirt, 7.00 (before: 14.99) / Mugler Draped Top, $1,065.00 / Ala a Vault Chamois Cloute Sandal, $926.00 (before: $1,852.00)

Michelle of Michetteee

Michelle of Michetteee

What happens when a side slit and a cutout decide to have an offspring? You’re looking at it. This graceful and oh-so-flattering cut is suggestive and sophisticated at the same time. This is perfect for those women who want to look cute and sexy simultaneously (admit it, we’ve all wished that upon ourselves at least once). Pair it with an equally sweet-but-sexy scalloped or lace crop top and some strappy white sandals.

Topshop Nasty Gal Casadei for Prabal Gurung

Nasty Gal Circuit Curve Skirt, $42.00 / Topshop Crochet Crop Top, $44.00 / Casadei for Prabal Gurung Strappy Blade Wedge Sandal, $389.00 (before: $970.00)
