Shoeicide Wednesdays!!!

It's spring again and out come the sneakers and sandals and away with the boots and fur. I know I've been missing in action when it comes to my "Shoeicide Wednesdays" posts, but it seems like all you guys wanted was the gossip and not the fashion. That is until I received an email from an avid reader of the site who was angry that I haven't posted on shoes. Trust me when I tell you, I never knew yall cared like that, but not one to disappoint, the posts are back.

So with that said, this week's pick of shoes for "Shoeicide Wednesdays" are the SEE by Chloe high top wedge sneaker. The sneaker retails for $375 and can be purchased at Bergdorf Goodman by clicking (here). Swizz Beatz Gets Alicia Keys Her Own Reebok Deal

Being married to Swizz Beatz must really have its perks as Alicia Keys just debuted her own Reebok sneaker collection which is Alicia's own version of the Reebok Freestyle Hi. (In Queens we called them 5411's)


Alicia's $80 sneakers will be available at Finish Line stores everywhere and will have various patterns on them. The first pattern (featured below) showcases the New York City skyline and piano keys:

The sneakers come in high or low tops and some even come with studs on them. Either way, the sneakers only cost $80 which is a great price for any sneaker nowadays. My only question to you guys is.......will you be buying yourself a pair? I'll hold for your thoughts!

Psychedelic Kicks: When PUMA and Solange Knowles Collaborate

After the overwhelming barrage of sneaker wedges, we thought we'd give up on couture kicks for a while. But thanks to the long anticipated PUMA and Solange Knowles collaboration, it looks like we're far from abstaining from the concept of fashion sneakers.

Puma x Solange Girls of Blaze Disc Rainforest Sneakers, $150

PUMA's Disc was launched back in 1992 and was popular for chucking the shoelaces concept out of the window. It features a specific closure technology with the use of a rotating dial (i.e. the disc), which tightens and loosens up internal wires for a custom fit. Very useful for particular runners out there.

Puma x Solange Girls of Blaze Disc Rainbow Sneakers, $150

Knowles' contribution was to revive it with her penchant for bold colors and unique patterns. Because really, who doesn't love psychedelic running shoes? The collaboration is named "Girls of Blaze" and comes in three variants: Rainforest, Rainbow, and Tire.

Wear Army-Style Jackets — Follow the Lead of Fashion Bloggers

Aside from leather moto jackets, there's another way to channel a more masculine and tougher vibe in your outfits: go the army route! Yes, hunter green parka jackets and camouflage prints are making a comeback.

If you remember, they were pretty big a few seasons ago, but the interest on army style dissipated. Lately, however, it looks like the fashion industry has renewed its fascination with military-inspired outerwear, so they're back in full force!

We are totally getting inspiration from the following fashion bloggers who are also smitten with the military trend:

1. Karla from KQ S Style

It's easy to love Karla's ingenious play on the army trend. You can tell she took inspiration from it, but her look is not overly masculine. She paired her jacket with earth-tone pieces to keep the look cohesive but threw in a hat for that extra edgy look.

2. Aika from Aika's Love Closet

Aika managed to make the camo jacket look chic by wearing it with denim shorts and a layered top. It also takes good accessories to make this look work. Aika threw in a pop of red with her bag and a little Perspex with her pair of shoes.

3. Flavia from Fashion Coolture

I suspect Flavia can wear a flour sack and make it look stylish. She looks polished from head to toe in an army-style jacket and a leather ensemble.

4. Marilyn from Messages on a Napkin

Marilyn layered a floral dress over a denim one, and then capped off the look with an army-style jacket! Very clever. It works, too! It's a wonderful summer style to covet if you are feeling a tad adventurous.

5. Meri from Meri Wild

Army jackets too warm for the summer? Try army vests like what Meri is wearing in this photo. She definitely had spunky and grungy in mind when she came up with this outfit as there are a lot of tough elements in it. Pile on accessories like statement necklaces and bracelets for a more street-style vibe to your army-inspired ensemble.
