There isn’t much Yuletide cheer to be found in British songstress Katy B‘s recent string of singles - see “Crying For No Reason” and “5AM” for more - but fortunately, the electropop siren knows just the ticket to get listeners into the holiday spirit as the world holds its breath in anticipation of her sophomore LP Little Red, out next year.
When she stopped by BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank’s Christmas Party, she offered up a cover of The Ronettes‘ ”Sleigh Ride” that traded the slick house stylings of her original songs for something janglier and a little more organic. Those vocals, though, all tangy-smooth and emotive, were classic Katy B.
